COURSE DESCRIPTION: Advanced Marketing/Marketing Lab builds on the principles and concepts taught in Marketing Principles. Students assume a managerial perspective in applying economic principles in marketing, analyzing operations needs, examining distribution and financial alternatives, managing marketing information, pricing products and services, developing product/service planning strategies, promoting products and services, purchasing, and professional sales. This course also deals with global marketing in that students analyze marketing strategies employed in the U.S. versus those employed in other countries. This course is designed to allow a student to utilize knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in the marketing classroom in operating the marketing laboratory.
All students taking Advanced Marketing will be writing three DECA competitive events as part of the Advanced Marketing Curriculum. Students may join the DECA marketing club and compete with one of these written events at the state competition every Spring. Regional competition takes place in January at Lanier High School. Those students meeting proficiency at the regional level qualify to compete at the state level in Atlanta, GA. Students placing at state DECA competition qualify to compete at the international DECA competition in late April/early May.
